Lucius Septmius Geta apparently changed to Publius Septimius Geta ca. 199-200 AD Geta the younger son of Septimius Severus and Julia Domma, was born May 27th, 189 AD at Milan. When Caracalla was elevated to co-Augustus following the great victories in Parthia in 198 AD, Severus raised Geta to Caesar and Princeps Juventutis. Geta served as Consul in 205 and 208, and then was elevated to the rank of Augustus in 209 AD, following the victories in Britain. Geta and Caracalla never got along well, and their rivalry broke out into open hostility following the death of Severus in 211 AD. Although there was talk of splitting the Empire between the two, Caracalla ended the problem by having Geta assassinated on February 1st 212 AD Geta was only 22 years old at the time of his death. unknown coins > roman imperial coins > hammered coins > milled coins |
